Inner Discovery for KidsWhat is Inner Discovery?
Inner Discovery classes have been designed to teach emotional awareness to children and tools for relaxation and heart centered communication through creative art and imaginative play. Children are encouraged to connect and create from an authentic place inside themselves and explore their unique gifts. All classes include a creative project and guided reflection time which provides an opportunity for your child to unwind and recharge at the end of the school day. Studies have shown that reflection can help your child feel less stress, improve school focus, increase creativity, promote feelings of contentment and help to create foundations for inner peace that last a lifetime. Each class is 1 ½ hours to allow us to dig in and really explore the foundation of improv. All levels of acting—scripted and/or improv—experience are welcome. Absolute beginners and those with lots of experience will be creating this ensemble together. Improvisational theater is a wonderful process for building skills such as thinking on your feet, working with lots of different people, understanding character/narrative, and taking risks. The laughing is pretty rad, too. Snacks provided. In addition to teaching at Mary Collins School, Carrie Caudle is a practicing improviser and educational consultant. Having taken foundational through advanced classes at BATS Improv in San Francisco, she now performs with multiple improvisational theater troupes in the Bay Area. She not only teaches K-12 students how to embrace and apply the principles of improv, but she guides teachers through professional development so that they can integrate improv into their daily teaching as well.
